Hidden Risks, Lethal Truths - Warner-Lambert won approval for Rezulin after masking the number of liver injuries in clinical studies. WASHINGTON -- Newly obtained internal documents show that Warner-Lambert Co. executives who promoted the diabetes pill Rezulin masked early indications of the drug's danger to the liver from federal regulators and later delayed sharing information about its lethal toxicity with family doctors. The newly acquired materials show that company management rebuffed employees who questioned liver-injury totals from clinical studies that excluded 38% of the cases. At the time, Warner-Lambert was assuring doctors nationwide that the drug was as safe as a placebo, the harmless pill used as a control in medical testing. The story of the Food and Drug Administration's handling of Rezulin is well known. After the agency gave the drug "fast-track" approval in early 1997, scores of liver-related deaths were linked to the pill. Rezulin was withdrawn from the U.S. market in March 2000. By then, it had generated $2.1 billion in sales for Warner-Lambert. Law Suit Against Pharmaceutical Companies Citing Vaccines Contained Poisonous Mercury: "On July 7, 1999, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) issued with the US Public Health Service (USPHS) a joint statement alerting clinicians and the public of concern about thimerosal, a mercury-containing preservative used in some vaccines.The reason for the warning is that himerosal contains a related mercury compound called ethyl mercury. Mercury is a toxic metal that can cause immune, sensory, neurological, motor, and behavioral dysfunctions. The Food and Drug Administration suggested that some infants, depending on which vaccines they receive and the timing of those vaccines, may be exposed to levels of ethyl mercury that could build up to exceed one of the federal guidelines established for the intake of methyl mercury. Symptoms of mercury toxicity in young children are extremely similar to those of autism. This can explain the recent increase in the numbers of children diagnosed with autism since the early 1990's. The numerous amount of children diagnosed with autism seems to directly correlate with the recommendation of both the hepatitis B and HIB vaccine to infants in the early 1990s. May 23, 2002 - MANDATORY VACCINATION ACT - The Emergency Health Powers Act has just been passed in the second state, Wisconsin, and is already law in Kentucky. Protecting The Thyroid Gland In Radiation Emergencies
A person exposed to "fallout" can suffer from a myriad list of ailments, among them thyroid cancer. Thyroid cancer, due to radiation poisoning, is caused by the uptake (through inhalation or ingestion) of radioiodine (a radioactive isotope of iodine). The Chernobyl reactor accident resulted in massive releases of 131I and other radioiodines. Beginning approximately 4 years after the accident, a sharp increase in the incidence of thyroid cancer among children and adolescents in Belarus and Ukraine (areas covered by the radioactive plume) was observed. In some regions, for the first 4 years of this striking increase, observed cases of thyroid cancer among children aged 0 through 4 years at the time of the accident exceeded expected number of cases by 30- to 60-fold. In the Federal Register of December 15, 1978, FDA announced its conclusion that Potassium iodide (KI), a natural supplement, is a safe and effective means by which to block uptake of radioiodines by the thyroid gland in a radiation emergency.FDA - "It is also notable that the thyroid radiation exposures after Chernobyl were virtually all internal, from radioiodines. Despite some degree of uncertainty in the doses received, it is reasonable to conclude that the contribution of external radiation was negligible for most individuals. This distinguishes the Chernobyl exposures from those of the Marshall Islanders. Thus, the increase in thyroid cancer seen after Chernobyl is attributable to ingested or inhaled radioiodines. A comparable burden of excess thyroid cancers could conceivably accrue should U.S. populations be similarly exposed in the event of a nuclear accident. This potential hazard highlights the value of averting such risk by using KI as an adjunct to evacuation, sheltering, and control of contaminated foodstuffs."
